２０２１年度後期（秋学期）の授業実施方法について
－「緊急事態宣言」の延長を受けて－

　２０２１年度の前期（春学期）については、政府からの緊急事態宣言が発出された中で、在学生の皆さんをはじめ、多くの関係者の皆さまから多大なご協力をいただき、新型コロナウイルス感染症の拡大防止に努めつつ、本学の各キャンパスにも数多くの学生が集いながら、新たな時代に適応した様式で、本学における教育研究活動が実施できたことを大変喜ばしく思っております。
　しかしながら、この間、記録的な集中豪雨などの自然災害に加え、新型コロナウイルス感染症の更なる拡大など、今もなお、多くの人々が生存の危機と生活の困難に直面しており、医療分野をはじめとする各関係分野で懸命なご努力を続けておられる方々に敬意を表し感謝申し上げる次第です。

　さて、全国における新型コロナウイルス感染症の新規感染者数に依然として歯止めがかからない状況の中で、本学が所在する東京都においても、９月１３日（月）から、現在の「緊急事態宣言」の更なる延長が決定されました。本学では、２０２１年度の授業実施方針について、既に在学生の皆さんにお知らせしておりますとおり、「遠隔授業と面接授業とを適切に組み合わせて実施することで、本学の教育活動の質の向上と教育効果の担保に努める」こと、そして「可能な限り、教員・学生間における人的交流の機会の確保とその増加に努める」こととしており、後期（秋学期）についても徹底した感染防止対策を講じながら、本年度前期（春学期）にお知らせいたしました以下の対応方針を継続することといたします。

【対応方針】
　新型コロナウイルス感染症の拡大防止の観点から人流を抑制するという行政の方針を踏まえ、本学としてもこれに十全に対応することといたします。そのため、緊急事態宣言が解除されるまでの間、オンライン形式で受講が可能な授業については、遠隔授業としての受講を推奨いたします。
　また、後期（秋学期）開始時における各種ガイダンス等についても、参加予定学生数の状況を勘案し、必要に応じて、オンライン形式で実施をいたします。
　なお、各学部・研究科から授業科目の実施方法、各種ガイダンス等の詳細について連絡がある場合には、C plus、manaba等でお知らせいたしますので、その内容を確認してください。

　なお、今後においては、ワクチン接種率の向上に伴う、東京都及び関東近県における新型コロナウイルス感染症の新規感染者数が大幅に改善される等、社会的な状況の変化によって、新たな対応を採ることも想定されますが、その際には、改めて皆さんに本学としての方針をお知らせすることとしたいと思います。

　さまざまな場面で、新型コロナウイルス感染症に対する心配の念を止めることができませんが、在学生の皆さんには、これからの期間においても、自らが感染しないことはもちろん、他者に感染させないことを前提とした感染防止のための行動を継続するよう、改めてお願い致します。そして何よりも、皆さんが、本学におけるキャンパスライフを通じて健やかに過ごすことができるよう、心からお祈り致します。

Classes in the 2nd Semester (Fall Semester) 2021
In response to the extension of the State of Emergency

In the first semester (Spring Semester) 2021, when the government declared a state of emergency, we received a great deal of cooperation from students and all university staff in our efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Though many students gathered on the Chuo University campuses, we are very pleased that we were able to conduct educational activities with approaches appropriate for these changed circumstances.
However, in addition to natural disasters, such as unprecedented localized torrential rainfalls, due to the further spread of COVID-19, many people are still facing crises of survival and difficulties living. I would like to emphasize my appreciation and express my respect for all who continue to make great efforts in the medical profession and respective related fields.

Nevertheless, as the number of new cases of COVID-19 nationwide continues to increase, the government has decided to extend its state of emergency from Monday September 13 for the Tokyo metropolitan area, where Chuo University is located.
Regarding classes to be held in 2021-22, as we have already announced to current students, “we will improve the quality of our teaching and ensure effective educational outcomes by conducting an appropriate combination of distance learning and face-to-face classes” and “as far as possible, we shall endeavor to secure and increase opportunities for human exchange between faculty members and students.” In the second semester (Fall Semester) 2021, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we will continue to implement the policy announced in the first semester (Spring Semester) 2021, as follows.

[Policy]
The university will fully respond to the government policy of reducing the flow of people in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Therefore, we recommend that you take distance learning for classes that can be taken online until the State of Emergency is lifted.
In addition, various guidance at the beginning of the second semester (Fall Semester) will be conducted online as necessary, taking the number of students attending into consideration.
For further information on how classes will be conducted and details of guidance activities, your faculty or graduate school will provide notifications through C plus, manaba, or other channels, so please check frequently for announcements.

In the future, it is expected that new measures will be taken due to changes in social conditions, such as a significant decrease in the number of new COVID-19 cases in Tokyo and the Kanto area due to improving vaccination rates. At that time, we will inform you of any changes in university policy.

In the meantime, we are all concerned about COVID-19. Please do whatever you can to avoid infection and the infection of others, and please continue to act with caution. I most sincerely hope that you can maintain good health throughout your campus life at Chuo University.
