Diversity Center

The Diversity Center provides counseling services related to disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, ethnicity, etc., and operates the Diversity Square, a safe and secure room for students to visit.

The Center also provides the handbook for students as well as the guidebook for faculty and staff summarizing information about gender and sexuality at the Diversity Center. These books are not just for those concerned but also worthwhile reading for every person related to Chuo University. You can easily download from below so please take a look for your knowledge enhancement. If you want it printed, please drop by the Diversity Center.

Consultation

At the Diversity Center, we support students who have difficulties in their student life due to circumstances such as disabilities, gender, sexuality, and racial/ethnic identity, and work to resolve them. Please feel free to contact us.

【Who can use our services?】

  • Chuo University students/graduate students, guardians, and their families
  • Chuo University faculty

*As much as possible, we will also accept inquiries from students, guardians, their families, and teachers of Chuo University's affiliated high schools and junior high schools.

*In addition, we may be able to provide consultation for people outside the university, depending on the purpose and necessity of the consultation (if, for example, the main subject of the consultation is a student or graduate student of Chuo University).

【How to have a consultation】

  1. Apply for a consultation
    It may take a couple of days to reply because not all our staff are proficient in English. If it is an emergency, you may want to visit us to make an appointment.

  2. Schedule an appointment
    Check our availability and pick the day and time best for you.
  3. Complete the consent form
    We will ask you to read and agree with our policy.
  4. Have an intake session
    A coordinator/full-time faculty member will be in charge of your intake session. It could be done in-person or online. In this session, we help you to organize your thoughts, clarify what happened to you, and/or discuss what support is available.
  5. Consultation/counseling
    Based on the intake session, we will consult with you to decide how to provide support. We may provide you continuous counseling support, and/or respond in coordination with other departments in the university and outside services as necessary.

I grew up in Taiwan and moved to Japan in 2018. I am fluent in Mandarin and Japanese, and proficient in English. I studied clinical psychology and counseling psychology in Japan, with additional study experience in the UK and Switzerland. Music lover and proud plant parent.

General counseling, LGBTQ+ issues, queer identity, multicultural counseling.

Intersectionality and diverse backgrounds, LGBTQ+ and queer identity, mental health and social supports for queer foreigners in Japan
