Institute Professor Masataka Watanabe, Chuo University Research and Development Initiative, agreed on implementing the Joint Project for GHG transparency report and global stocktake in Tajikistan

The 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change took place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from 30 November to 12 December 2023 (JST). Regarding the “Contribution of GOSAT series satellites to Greenhouse Gas and Air Pollutant observations for Sustainable Development” held in COP28 Japan Pavilion on December 9, Institute Prof. Masataka Watanabe of Chuo University Research and Development Initiative took the stage to explain, and cite to the cases that estimated CO2 emissions which are measured through the Greenhouse Gases Observation Satellite (GOSAT) match with the actual CO2 emissions report in Mongolia in high accuracy. The cases were published online in the academic journal Scientific Reports in September 2023.

In addition, at COP28, the research group led by Institute Prof. Watanabe agreed with the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee of Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan to jointly work on the project of utilizing CO2 emissions measurement technology based on the observation data of Japanese satellite, GOSAT.
