University of Toulouse Jean Jaures, France
Exchange period at Chuo: 2022 September - 2023 July

Why did you choose Chuo for your exchange study?

Chuo University is in Tokyo but not in the center of the city, I thought Chuo can be calmer than other universities in Japan. And it’s also a reputed university.

How long have you been studying Japanese before coming to Chuo?

I studied Japanese at my hometown university for 3 years before coming to Chuo.

What kinds of classes are you taking at Chuo?

I’ve taken Japanese courses but am also interested in many areas, so I took one course in English Linguistics, Psychology, Introduction to historical studies (in Japan), and sociology.

How is the accommodation and your life in Japan/Chuo?

I lived in the international residence of Chuo, and it was very great, I’ve really enjoyed my life in the dorm with Japanese and other exchange students from many countries in the world.

What is your plan for the future?

I’m coming back to France very soon to continue my Japanese Studies and maybe if I obtain great marks during the next year, I could come back to Japan for another exchange.

Any advice for students who are interested in studying in Japan/Chuo?

Try to learn Japanese a little bit before coming to Japan, some important words like “hello”, “thank you”, and “excuse me” … If you can speak Japanese already, try to go to a student club to make Japanese friends!
