Please describe your hometown.

My hometown is Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine, the longest city in Europe. It is an industrial center known for metallurgy and is often called the “steel heart of Ukraine” because of its long history in steel production and mining.

Among different universities in Japan, why did you choose Global Management at Chuo University?

I began my journey at Chuo University as a one-year exchange student. That experience opened the opportunity for me to return as a non-degree student and later enroll as a bachelor’s student in Global Management. The GLOMAC program allows to study business in English while interacting with professors and classmates from various countries, providing valuable international experience and opportunities to further develop my communication skills.

What do you find interesting at GLOMAC?

I find GLOMAC particularly interesting because it is mainly English-taught program, which is quite unique in Japan. Many classes include group work and case studies, where students from diverse backgrounds collaborate and exchange perspectives.

What are the challenges of international students in Japan?

I think the main challenges for international students in Japan are adapting to cultural norms and overcoming language barriers. Even with a good level of Japanese, understanding unspoken social rules, indirect expressions, and formalities can be difficult at first.

If you could explain GLOMAC in 3 words, what would they be?

Connection, Collaboration, Opportunities

What are your study or career plans for the future?

After graduating from university, I plan to work in Japan at a company that is open to the international market and values diverse, global teams. I feel comfortable and motivated in an international environment, where I can apply the skills I have gained during my studies at Chuo.

Do you have any advice for international students who think of entering GLOMAC?

Don’t be afraid to try new or challenging things — they often lead to opportunities you didn’t expect. GLOMAC is a place where you can overcome insecurities, develop your strengths, and gain the knowledge that will help you achieve your goals.
