Faculty of Global Management

Features of GLOMAC

More than 70% of the classes are conducted in foreign language (mainly English)

At GLOMAC, more than 70% of the classes are conducted in a foreign language (mainly English). Students* can earn all the credits required for graduation by taking only English-conducted classes.

*Foreign exchange students are required to take Japanese classes.

Moreover, the high ratio of international faculty members allows students to learn not only about foreign languages and global area studies from foreign instructors but also gain knowledge in such areas as corporate management and international development**.

**Depending on the class, Japanese faculty may conduct the class.

Diverse curriculum policy focused on basic education

GLOMAC Standard Courses stand for courses focused on basic education. To deepen the understanding of all basic courses, i.e., Introduction to Business Management, Introductory Economics, Strategic Management, International Studies, Microeconomics, International Business, and Introduction to Statistics for Management, 2 classes per week (200 minutes) are conducted to develop a thorough foundation of basic knowledge. Depending on the course, several faculty members representing various expertise handle a single course so that students can understand different aspects of a broad area.

In addition, by combining on-demand classes, we aim to provide flexible class revisions and good environment for repetitive learning.

Study-abroad programs to train global leaders

The curriculum of our Faculty offers classes preparing students for three- to four-week short-term study abroad starting from the students’ 1st year. Many students participate in the hopes of developing the necessary building blocks of a global leader in their skills in self-management, adaptability to new cultures, problem-solving, and communication through involvement in foreign business and cultures. We plan to offer not only foreign language courses but also business programs unique to GLOMAC, such as company visits. Depending on the number of open courses and applicants, the program may only be available to take in the 2nd year and onwards.

Small-group seminars from the 1st years at GLOMAC

The “Introductory Seminar” for the 1st year students incorporates improving PC skills and media literacy, in addition to enhancing knowledge in business management and economics, statistics, and regional research with the aim of developing foundational knowledge to actively participate in the seminar courses that start from the 2nd year. The “Seminar” course is structured so that students can continue in their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years to learn and improve upon their expertise.

Company Visit

“Company Visits” of GLOMAC is a unique extracurricular program of the Faculty under the concept of “Open Your Eyes to Think of Your Own Career”. Students visit companies and/or public institutions to learn about entering the workforce and society at large.

This program aims for the students to enhance their interest in society and gain experience in the business-related research field. Under the supervision of the faculty and senior year students, the students learn the basic manners and etiquette as members of society for the visitations and make arrangements through their preparations to visit the companies. This program has been run in the fall term every year since GLOMAC’s inception, planned and operated collaboratively by the Faculty and the volunteer group of students (Company Visit Supporters).
