Outline Periods
In the past 20 years or so, Japan experienced significant changes in its politics. Even focusing only on changes around ruling political parties, there has been a drastic change such as the Liberal Democratic Party divided and losing power; Liberal Democratic Party and Japan Socialist Party forminga coalition under the socialist prime minister; a coalition government of the Liberal Democratic Party and New Komeito; rise and fall of the Democratic Party of Japan; and the long-running Abe administration. In addition to our joint research on relationship between electorates, elections and politics that have been conducted so far, we will also take further steps to deepen our understanding of these changes from the perspective of the electorates.
