Collaborative Research by Associate Professor Koji Kagotani (the Faculty of Policy Studies) Published in Asian Survey

A co-authored article by Associate Professor Koji Kagotani of the Faculty of Policy Studies, titled “Diplomatic Visits and Image-Building: A Conjoint Analysis in Taiwan,” has been published in the peer-reviewed journal Asian Survey. Asian Survey is one of the leading journals in the fields of area studies and political science.

The article offers an important scholarly contribution by conceptualizing diplomatic visits not merely as ceremonial events, but as domestic political signals through which politicians can demonstrate their competence in security affairs to voters. It sheds light on how politicians in minor powers can use diplomatic engagement amid great-power competition to enhance their political standing at home.
