Specially Appointed Professor Yuki Harada of the Faculty of Global Informatics Presents at the EUSA Asia-Pacific 2026 Tokyo Conference

Yuki Harada, Specially Appointed Professor at the Faculty of Global Informatics, specializes in ICT (Information and Communication Technology) Law, ICT Policy, and Consumer Protection.

Professor Harada recently presented at the European Union Studies Association Asia-Pacific (EUSA Asia-Pacific) 2026 Tokyo Conference, held in Tokyo.

The EUSA Asia Pacific Conference is an international academic forum jointly organized by European Union Studies Associations across the Asia-Pacific region. The 2026 conference, held on June 1–2, brought together researchers from Japan as well as across Asia, Europe, Africa, and other parts of the world.

During a parallel session, Professor Harada delivered a presentation titled "Implications of EU Digital Legislation for Consumer Protection in Japan, Particularly for Consumer Redress Systems."

In his presentation, Professor Harada examined the background behind the enactment of key EU legislation—including the Digital Services Act (DSA), the Alternative Dispute Resolution Directive (ADRD), and the Artificial Intelligence Act (EU AIA)—from the perspectives of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) and remedies for AI-driven decision-making. Based on this analysis, he discussed their implications for Japanese legal frameworks, such as the Information Distribution Platform Act (IDPA), the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI), and AIA in Japan (JP AIA).
