Chuo University Hosts 4th Global Youth Forum for a Culture of Lawfulness at Myogadani Campus — Welcoming Her Imperial Highness Princess Tsuguko of Takamado, Chuo University Students and Faculty Support Youth from Around the World —

The 4th "Global Youth Forum for a Culture of Lawfulness," co-hosted by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the Ministry of Justice, was held over three days from March 5, to March 7, 2026, at Chuo University’s Myogadani Campus. This marked the forum’s inaugural hosting on a university campus, with Chuo University deeply involved as a co-sponsor in both the planning and operational phases.

Chuo University’s students and faculty worked as one to extend a warm welcome to youth leaders from various countries and regions, providing robust support for the smooth progression of this international conference. In particular, Chuo students demonstrated a powerful presence throughout the event—both as proactive participants engaging in discussions and as dedicated volunteers supporting the operations. Their contributions embodied a new model for the forum, driven by the close collaboration between the Ministry of Justice and the university.

Chair of the Board Masahiko Omura Delivers Welcome Speech

At the opening ceremony, Chair of the Board Masahiko Omura, representing Chuo University, delivered a welcome address to the participants.

Her Imperial Highness Princess Tsuguko of Takamado Welcomed to Myogadani Campus

The opening ceremony was honored by the presence of Her Imperial Highness Princess Tsuguko of Takamado, who addressed the youth leaders with words of encouragement.

Following the ceremony, Her Imperial Highness engaged in a cordial exchange with student representatives in the sunlit 5th-floor lounge, fostering warm and meaningful interaction.

Lecture by Professor Ko Shikata of the Faculty of Law

In the program following the opening ceremony, a lecture by Mr. Soichi Noguchi (former astronaut) was followed by a presentation by Professor Ko Shikata of the Faculty of Law on the theme: "Youth and Community Engagement in Preventing Reoffending Through Social Reintegration."

The forum was attended by 84 youth leaders from 43 countries and regions, including eight students from Chuo University.
During the two days of group sessions, youth leaders from diverse backgrounds engaged in vibrant and active discussions.

 

In addition, 21 students from Chuo University separately supported the forum as volunteers in the planning and operation led by the Ministry of Justice. Furthermore, student volunteers planned and executed cultural events, including traditional Japanese musical instrument performances, origami workshops, and Japanese classical dance.

Plenary Session and Closing Ceremony

During the plenary session on the final day, the Draft Recommendations were formally adopted under the leadership of the Chairperson.

At the closing ceremony, which marked the conclusion of the three-day forum, certificates of completion were awarded to all participating students. The forum came to a close as participants celebrated each other’s achievements.

Myogadani Campus as a Hub for International Exchange

Throughout the forum, the Myogadani Campus demonstrated its true value as an "urban campus" which seamlessly combines functionality and aesthetic appeal. Equipped with diverse academic spaces, including spacious halls and sun-drenched lounges, the campus provided an ideal environment for professional lectures, heated debates, and cross-border interactions alike.
