English-Language Book Edited by Professor Osamu Sudoh (Faculty of Global Informatics) Published by Springer Nature

Osamu Sudoh, Professor of the Faculty of Global Informatics and former Director of the ELSI Center, specializes in social informatics, medical informatics, and applied economics.

We are pleased to announce the publication by Springer Nature of the English-language book “Data Analysis Impact on Social System and Social Sciences: Study on the Social Impact of DX and AI in Japan,” which compiles research findings on DX and AI policy in Japan. This work was led by Osamu Sudoh as the research project representative.

In this book, a research team focusing on the progress and challenges of DX and AI (led by Osamu Sudoh) compiles findings on topics such as large-scale disaster evacuation research using community traditions and GraphRAG, reflections on AI and human creativity, a comparative study of personal information protection between Japan and the U.S., AI security, regional culture in a digital society, and the development and challenges of DX in Japan. The work discusses the benefits and issues brought by the spread of DX and AI through data visualization, as well as implementation methods for AI and ICT to solve problems. It provides significant insights into the connections between various academic disciplines, demonstrating how knowledge from one field can assist in answering questions in another.

In addition to Professor Sudoh, this research and authorship involved Professor Kazutaka Matsuzaki of the same faculty and current Director of the ELSI Center, as well as alumni Anli Wang (1st cohort of the Sudoh Seminar), Yusuke Tomishima (2nd cohort of the Sudoh Seminar), and Atsuya Tsuda (1st cohort of the Matsuzaki Seminar).
