1st and 3rd Generation of GLOMAC’s Graduates Present at International Conference in Cebu Island
Three graduates from the J.NAKAMURA Laboratory at the Faculty of Global Management, NAITO Yuka (1st generation), KAMODA Yohei (3rd generation), and FIRTH Samuel (3rd generation), presented at ICBEIT (International Conference on Business, Economics, and Information Technology) held in Cebu Island, Philippines, on March 22nd and 23rd, 2025. They are currently pursuing their studies at the Graduate School of Economics.
The ICBEIT is held annually in the spring and is primarily supported by the University of Guam. The Conference fosters a supportive atmosphere that encourages students to make their presentation debut, attracting many researchers and practitioners from across Asia each year.
NAITO Yuka of the J.NAKAMURA Laboratory presented her study “Quantitative Evaluation of Two-dimensional Gaze during Image Interpretation by Experienced and Inexperienced Physicians in the Medical Industry,” conducted in collaboration with the Radiology Department of Yokohama City University Hospital. The study analyzed a cephalic CT radiology report and revealed an interesting pattern in how inspection findings were interpreted. Active discussions took place during the Q&A session, where NAITO Yuka, as a Graduate School of Economy student, shared her story of attempting to study the experiment using the economics model. She also expressed her opinion of occasionally focusing on the “decision-making” perspective as one of the economics areas.
KAMODA Yohei focused on system dynamics using the simulation software “Vensim,” in his presentation titled ”Business Model Analysis of Japanese Automobile Dismantling Industry Using Vensim.” He simulated the recycling business within the Japanese automobile industry and discussed the future outlook of demand and supply. During the Q&A session, he was asked why he chose Vensim and explained its advantage in simulating the supply chains. Additionally, he discussed actively with a person who studies the EV market in Thailand and China, examining whether EV is truly environment-friendly or not.
FIRTH Samuel presented the results of an AHP analysis on the decision-making behavioral model when buying new products. His presentation focused on the Australian meat pie titled ”Key Factors in Consumers’ Choices of Unknown Food: AHP Analysis of Australian Meat Pie Preferences” as an extension of his graduation thesis at the Faculty of Global Management. During the Q&A session, he got to open up the possibility of expanding applications on research through the participant’s opinion saying, “Not only meat pie, but also studying lesser-known foods could offer insights into overcoming entry barriers in overseas markets.”

At the academic conference, participants of various ages, nationalities, backgrounds, and areas of expertise had a fruitful discussion regarding future research advice with Q&As. Besides the presentation session, students had the opportunity to exchange opinions with a foreign business manager and professors from other universities, gaining new insights from different points of view and tips to accumulate data in the future. It was undoubtedly a valuable experience.
Faculty of Global Management offers various learning opportunities starting from the intersection of business and academia. J.NAKAMURA Laboratory provides students with the chance to present at international conferences and connects with off-campus professionals and experts in various research fields. These stimulating opportunities allow students to expand the scope and applications of their research.
