■Title of the Paper
“From Sightseeing to Gazing at the Place -For Developing an Application for Cultural Elements in Nikko-”

■Comment from the Specially Appointed Professor Hiramatsu
Examining specific cases in Nikko, one of the most popular destinations for foreign tourists, we focused on the linguistic landscape as a touching point between local peoples and tourists. Based on the research, we are planning to develop an application that cultivates cultural awareness and fosters respect for the local area. Recently, our world demands to handle massive information accurately and rapidly. However, our paper pointed out the importance of understanding and accepting the cultural difference that cannot be translated. The empirical results point out that it is important people should perceive scenes subjectively.
