Faculty of Global Management Welcomes Lecturer from School of Public Policy and Management, Guangxi University

Professor Fan Wu, a guest speaker from the School of Public Policy and Management at Guangxi University, delivered a lecture titled “How to Improve the Efficiency of Scientific and Technological Talents Development in Western China?” on December 24, 2024. The lecture took place during the Introductory Economics course of Faculty of Global Management, taught by Associate Professor Chuan Yang.

Measuring efficiency and identifying the factors that affect it are crucial when exploring ways to enhance efficiency in nurturing scientific and technological talents. Given China’s issue of inequality between regions in scientific technology area, it is essential to boost development in the western regions, which are lagging behind in particular, in order to facilitate technical innovations as well as economic and industrial growth across the entire country.

A comment from one of the attendees:
“The lecture posed me a question that Japan might be facing the same problem, too. While big cities like Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka play key roles in the technological aspects, other regions in Japan such as in the countryside are clearly struggling with technological disparities. I thought it is important to focus on regional developments as Japan’s productivity and economic growth depend on advancing science and technology nationwide.”

The Faculty of Global Management emphasizes importance of regional economy, and we believe our students get insights from experience of glancing the cutting-edge study on regional economy.

Our Faculty will continue to promote cooperation with overseas universities and provide opportunities for dialogue with experts who are active in the research fields, to develop global leaders.
