44th Conference of Japan Society for Celtic Studies held at Tama Campus

On October 19th and 20th, the 44th Conference of Japan Society for Celtic Studies was held at Chuo University Tama Campus. Professor Koji WATANABE (Subject: French) of the Faculty of Economics served as the person in charge.

On the first day of the Conference, Professor Shinji SAITO of Iwate University lectured on Arthurian Legend and the author of Romance of the Grail: The Magic and Mystery of Arthurian Myth, Joseph Campbell : Professor Saito translated the aforementioned Campbell’s work and the Japanese version was published by Jimbun Shoin in 2023. On the second day, Professor Watanabe organized the Symposium (Forum-On), themed on the Grail Legend.

Besides these talking events, six researchers (four on the first day and two on the second day) gave presentations on their research. Visiting researchers, Yoko HEMMI and Tomoko TAKAKI from the team “Studies on Fairies” of the Institute of Cultural Sciences presented their studies on Tolkien’s Elvish languages and Fairies in Irish Folktales, respectively.
