Professor Miwa Ota of Department of English Studies won second prize in the poetry competition in UK

Professor Miwa Ota of Department of English Studies won second prize in the monthly poetry competition, Read Manchester’s Poetry Place.

This competition is eligible for all ages and minds. Upholding a concept of discovering what we can create with our writing skills through re-introducing creative writing into the community, the competition presents a writing prompt each month. The theme for May, 2023, was “realizing the mental health.”

Read Manchester is a charity organization which aims to inspire local families reading habits and facilitate their reading activities in partnership with Manchester City Council.

Miwa Ota is currently engaged in the research as a Visiting Researcher at the University of Manchester, UK. This award-winning poem is written in easy to understand English and conveys the atmosphere of the University of Manchester and its hometown.
