2023 CLS Summer Program Introduction to Japanese Law

Chuo Law School (CLS) will host a summer program titled “Introduction to Japanese Law in English” this summer.
This one-week program will focus on the basic structure of Japan’s legal system and legal culture, and some specific topics on Japanese law. All lectures will be provided in English by professors at CLS and are open to law students from around the world. The program also includes optional study visits to law firm, court, and museum.
No academic credit is offered for this program; however, those who complete the course will be eligible to receive a certificate of participation.

Note: This program is offered through “Chuo University Law School Academy,” a division of Chuo University for Chuo Law School’s public outreach.

Outline of the Program

Date:
Monday, August 7- Friday, August 11, 2023.
 
Venue:
Chuo University Surugadai Campus (central Tokyo), 3-11-5 Kanda Surugadai, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo 101-8324 JAPAN
3 min. walk from “Ochanomizu” station on JR Chuo Line. 5 min. walk from “Ochanomizu” station on Tokyo-Metro Marunouchi Line.

Fees:
JPY 50,000 for 5-day course.
Airfare and accommodation costs are not included.
Local transportation and museum admission costs are not included.
Tuition shall be paid on the first day of the program, Aug.7, in cash (JPY).
 
Transportation and Accommodations:
CLS has no housing of its own in central Tokyo. However, please feel free to consult CLS about accommodations.

Application and Deadline:
Applications shall be submitted by e-mail no later than June 30, 2023. However, the application period will close earlier if the maximum enrollment is reached before then.
