The International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development
Chuo University have registered as a supporter of the international initiative of “The International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development” in April, 2022.
We need more basic sciences to achieve Agenda 2030 and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
This is the message sent to the world by the United Nations General Assembly on 2 December 2021:Member States approved the year 2022 as the International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development.
The Year will be officially inaugurated with an opening conference 30 June - 1 July 2022 at UNESCO headquarters in Paris. Events and activities will be organized around the world until 30 June 2023. It will help highlight the crucial role of basic sciences for sustainable development, and emphasize their contributions to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Science Council Japan is promoting this initiative and Chuo University have registered as a supporter. Thus, logos of the year will be used for website, events and any other activities related to the initiative in our university.
