Research paper co-authored by Prof. Hotes published in Nature

A research paper co-authored by Professor Stefan Hotes "The contribution of insects to global forest deadwood decomposition" has been published in "nature" (online).

In this research, field experiments were conducted in 55 forest sites around the world to understand the role of deadwood and insects in the global carbon cycle.

Professor Hotes collaborated with Professor Macandog of the University of the Philippines to set up an experimental site in the tropical rainforest of Luzon, contributing to this international joint research.

The research focused on the amount of carbon released from deadwood and the importance of insects in the decomposition process of deadwood under different climatic conditions.
