Chuo students win 2020 Swadesh Deroy Scholarhip
A documentary video jointly produced by the FLP Matsuno Seminar and Introductory Seminar (Class 17) of the Faculty of Global Informatics won first prize in the 2020 Swadesh Deroy Scholarhip sponsored by the Foreign Correspondents' Club of Japan (FCCJ). The awards ceremony took place online on March 25th.
The documentary "2020: The Year Stranded in The Online Space" depicts the honest feelings of university students trapped in online spaces due to COVD-19 pandemic. The interviews and production of this work were done online and with smartphones.
It was a truly impressive work and beautifully done, and it gives intimate insight into what students have been through during the pandemic. The use of zoom meeting format is very effective. It was a creative use of an uncreative medium, and technically it was well structured and edited, and overall quite professionally done.
