Policy for Classes, Examinations and Grading for Spring Semester, following the Special Measures Period

In response to the extension of the state of emergency based on Article 32 of the Act on Special Measures against New Influenza Strains until May 31 and the accompanying requests from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the university has established the following policy on classes, examinations and evaluation methods for the first semester (spring semester).  
  This policy applies to undergraduate faculties. For graduate schools (including professional graduate schools), necessary adjustments may be made in consideration of the characteristics of each educational and research environment.

1.  Classes after the Special Measures Period

Classes will be held online throughout the first semester of 2020 (spring semester). However, if it becomes possible to provide face-to-face lessons or guidance for training / experiment courses due to changes in the situation, we will let you know promptly through the official website with as much notice as possible.

2.  Examinations and Evaluation Methods for Spring Semester

(1) At this stage, it appears to be difficult to carry out set-type, group examinations in the last week of the course or in the special exam period set in the academic calendar. Therefore, in the first semester of 2020 (spring semester), set-type, group final examinations will not be conducted in the final week of the course or in the special exam period.

(2) The grading evaluation will be based mainly on online reports and assignments. More details on specific methods will be announced on July 1, so please check announcements from your faculty office on C plus etc.

(3) The exam period set in the academic calendar may be used for submitting end-of-term reports. For details on the submission period, please refer to announcements from your faculty office on C plus etc.

(4) If your faculty does not follow the policies (1) and (2) set out above, you will be notified by your faculty office. Please check any announcements on C plus etc.

(5) Regarding the evaluation methods currently set out in each syllabus, we will inform you of any changes and ensure that students are not disadvantaged. Please pay attention to notifications on manaba, C plus etc.

(6) For grading evaluation, we will work hard to secure social trust in the awarding of credits for graduation. Also, in consideration of the impact on GPA calculations and other courses, we will keep the five-level grade evaluation method as a university-wide policy.
