Prof. Hasegawa’s Seminar Holds a Symposium at Chulalongkorn University

A student symposium was held between the faculties of economics at Chuo University and Chulalongkorn University in Thailand, at Chulalongkorn University on October 29, 2018. A total of fourteen students and faculty members from Chuo University, visited Chulalongkorn University, including Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Masahiro Shinohara, Professor Toshiaki Hasegawa, Associate Professor Yoshimasa Komoriya, Assistant Section Chief of the Office of the Faculty of Economics, Sota Kobayashi, and ten students from Professor Hasegawa’s seminar.

The symposium was organized around workshops led by students from both universities. Following a lecture on the economy in Thailand offered by Mr. Somprawin Manprasert, Executive Vice President of Bank of Ayudhya, students from both universities made presentations in English on two themes each, based on their research. A question and answer session followed, with an active exchange of thoughts from the perspectives of the two different countries, enabling students to encounter different points of view to enrich their learning.

The faculties of economics at Chuo University and Chulalongkorn University signed an institutional academic agreement in 2014, and have since been in active exchange through workshops, mainly in Professor Hasegawa’s seminars, but also in other seminars and Global Field Studies (GFS). The symposium concluded with a speech of gratitude by the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Masahiro Shinohara, to the Dean of Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Economics, Worawet Suwanrada, as well as with the hope that the exchange would continue to be promoted in the future.

2019 will mark five years since the establishment of the institutional academic agreement, and it is expected that the symposium will stimulate further development of exchange between the two institutions.
