Eight Years after the Great East Japan Earthquake－from the Representative Director and the Chancellor

It has been eight years since the Great East Japan Earthquake took place on March 11, 2011. Efforts to restore the disaster-hit areas are still only partially completed. Our thoughts and prayers remain with the people affected by the powerful earthquakes and their aftermath.

As part of the support efforts in the disaster areas, Chuo University has been continuously undertaking student volunteer programs with physical and economic support from our alumni, as well as with support from outside the university. In addition, we are committed to providing as much support as possible so that our students with families and relatives in the disaster areas are able to continue their studies. Eight years after the Great East Japan Earthquake tragedy, on behalf of the Chuo community, we send our sincere wishes for prompt restoration of the disaster areas, and for everyone affected by the disasters to resume their normal lives as soon as possible.

To the faculty, staff and students,
Commemorating eight years since the Great East Japan Earthquake, Chuo University will fly flags at half-mast on all its campuses today. We will also have a moment of silence for the victims of the disaster at 2:46 pm. Please join us in paying deep respect to those who have been lost and to those across Japan who continue to suffer.
