Prof. Torii’s GLP Seminar of the Faculty of Economics Visits Universiti Sains Malaysia

Students in Professor Nobuyoshi Torii’s Global Leaders Program (GLP) seminar visited Penang, Malaysia, from August 23 to 28, 2018. Six students were divided into two groups to do international fieldwork, on the themes of “The way that people-friendly traffic system in Penang should be” and “The role and issue of Japanese companies in Penang.” On August 25, a research exchange meeting was held at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), including a lecture given on these fieldwork themes by the Director of USM Japanese Cultural Center and a lively exchange of views on these themes between students in the GLP seminar and their counterparts from USM. With firm ambitions to develop greater global awareness as students in the GLP seminar, they actively engaged in fieldwork, mainly involving hearing survey at USM, cities, and mosques.
