【国際経営学部】ニューヨークで学ぶGlobal Studies―英語学習と多彩な体験を通じて

国際経営学部では、学部開設以来、海外短期留学プログラム「Global Studies（GS）」を実施しています。2026年度は、ニューヨーク市立大学（The City University of New York）のカレッジ・オブ・スタテン・アイランド（College of Staten Island）を訪れ、英語学習を中心に、ニューヨークならではのさまざまな経験をしました。
プログラムでは、毎日の英語学習に取り組み、最後に実施されるTOEFL試験に向けて、英語力の向上を目指しました。滞在中はホームステイを通じて日常的に英語を使う環境に身を置き、授業以外の場でも英語でコミュニケーションを取る機会を得ました。
また、企業訪問では、ニューヨークで活躍する日本人の方から、現地での仕事やキャリアについて話を聞きました。海外で働く方の経験に直接触れることで、学生たちは自身の将来の進路や働き方について考えるきっかけを得ました。
さらに、ニューヨークを代表するランドマークや文化施設も訪れました。ニューヨークの街並みをはじめ、The Metropolitan Museum of Art（MET）、Museum of Modern Art（MoMA）などを訪問し、世界有数の都市ならではの文化や街の魅力に触れました。
英語を学び、実際に英語を使い、海外で働く人の話を聞き、世界的な都市の文化に触れる。Global Studiesでの経験を通じて、学生たちは英語力を高めるとともに、異文化への理解を深め、自分自身の将来について考える機会を得ました。
国際経営学部は、今後もGlobal Studiesをはじめとする多様な国際教育の機会を通じて、学生の英語力とグローバルな視野を育んでいきます。
Since the establishment of the Faculty of Global Management, Chuo University, the Faculty has offered Global Studies (GS), a short-term overseas study program. In 2026, students visited the College of Staten Island, The City University of New York, where they focused on English learning while experiencing the unique culture and environment of New York City.
Throughout the program, students worked on improving their English skills in preparation for the final TOEFL exam. As they stayed with host families, they were able to use English on a daily basis and communicate in English not only in class but also in their everyday lives.
The students also visited companies and listened to Japanese professionals working in New York talk about their careers and experiences. Hearing directly from people working internationally gave the students an opportunity to reflect on their own futures and career paths.
In addition, the students visited some of New York City’s iconic landmarks and cultural attractions, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art (The MET), the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), and the High Line. These experiences allowed them to explore the culture and diverse character of one of the world’s most international cities.
Through learning English, using it in everyday situations, hearing firsthand about international careers, and experiencing New York’s culture, the students developed their English skills and broadened their global perspectives.
The Faculty of Global Management will continue to provide opportunities such as Global Studies to help students strengthen their English skills and develop a broader perspective on the world.
