[Faculty of Global Management] Mr. John Lacey’s Public Speaking Course Celebrates Student Growth and Authentic Expression
2026年01月06日
The Public Speaking course at Chuo University’s Faculty of Global Management concluded this semester with a powerful demonstration of student growth, confidence, and authenticity, showcased during the presentation held on December 23, 2025, in the second period at the Forest Gate Chuo Building Hall. Designed to strengthen communication skills, the course extended beyond speaking techniques to focus on meaningful themes, including calming stress, appreciating life, and being true to oneself.
Throughout the semester, students learned to address one of the most common challenges in communication: public speaking anxiety. Through structured practice, reflection, and peer support, they developed practical strategies to manage stress, remain present, and speak with greater confidence. Techniques such as mindset reframing and thoughtful preparation helped students transform nervousness into purposeful energy.
The course also emphasized self-reflection and appreciation. Students explored personal experiences and values, using their speeches to express gratitude, resilience, and individuality. These themes encouraged deeper connections with the audience and allowed students to discover their own authentic voices as speakers.
The semester culminated in a final speech, marking a clear climax to the students’ development. Each student delivered a complete and personal speech, demonstrating both technical improvement and emotional depth.
Students who initially lacked confidence stood poised and articulate, presenting speeches that reflected sincerity, courage, and growth. Fourth-year student Hana Kubo commented that this was her final class at the university and the perfect way to conclude her academic career at Chuo University.
The Faculty of Global Management celebrates the achievements of these students and looks forward to seeing how the confidence and skills they developed will support their academic, professional, and personal journeys ahead.
