Professor Usami during his lecture
Professor Munekatsu Usami from Kaetsu University delivered an engaging lecture drawing on more than 20 years of professional experience at Singapore Airlines and his service in roles such as Japan Government Representative to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Professional Researcher, and Acting Japanese Government Representative on the ICAO Board of Directors. The lecture took place during the seminar class for 2nd year students (instructor: VU, Manh Tien) on November 28th.
Prof. Usami currently serves as a professor in the Faculty of Management and Economics at Kaetsu University and holds an MBA from the University of Wales (UK), a Master’s degree and Ph.D. from Osaka University.
The lecture highlighted the aviation industry’s growing need for intensive, up-to-date data not only for operations management and profit maximization, but also for ensuring safety, enhancing customer satisfaction, creating new values, forecasting demand, shaping competitive strategies, and managing risks such as demand, input, and geopolitical shocks. Prof. Usami emphasized the importance of real-time information for effective business decision-making and the critical role of information sharing within the industry to maintain safety, security, and environmental protection.
