[Faculty of Global Management] Mr. Atsushi Inoue from Inoue Immigration Consulting gave a guest speaker lecture at International Development course

Students taking the International Development course (instructor: Jenny Balboa) had an opportunity to listen to a guest speaker lecture on Japanese Immigration Policy: Recent Development and Issues. The lecture took place on June 10th and was given by Mr. Atsushi Inoue, an immigration lawyer from Inoue Immigration Consulting who is working with the UN-International Office for Migration in Tokyo.

In the course International Development, students discover topics on different issues and policies that affect the country’s development prospects, as well as its economic and political situation. Migration is a pressing issue that requires careful attention from governments and international organizations. It is an important issue around the world and in Japan, at present. Mr. Atsushi Inoue was invited as a guest lecturer to discuss the history, issues, and trends of the Japanese immigration policy. Through this lecture, the students were able to deepen their understanding of the impact of migration in Japanese society, and how the government is managing the migration issue.

The lecture of Mr. Atsushi Inoue covered an analysis of the Japanese immigration situation, including statistical data on migrant population and migrant workers, historical transition of immigration law in Japan from 1951-2024, and the key changes in the immigration policy and types of visas. He also discussed the impact of labor migration to Japan and made a comparison of the Japanese immigration system vis-à-vis other countries.

The Faculty of Global Management will maintain its focus on developing practical skills alongside theoretical knowledge, offering students diverse opportunities to learn from industry professionals and grow into global leaders.
