[Faculty of Global Management] On June 2nd, Mr. Yoshida Taichi, a head of Business Development and Marketing at BSI, gave a guest lecture at Corporate Governance I class

On June 2nd, students taking the Corporate Governance I course (instructor: Pablo James Michael) had an opportunity to listen to special lecture of Mr. Yoshida Taichi, a Head of Business Development and Marketing at British Standards Institutions (BSI).

The lecture delved from the descriptions of a corporation, governance, and corporate governance, then to the explanation how should the system be designed for Japanese public companies to follow.

Afterwards, the lecturer discussed the evolution of the Japanese companies relying on banks prior to the bubble economy bursting in the 1990s which led the companies into accepting foreign investors who demanded a global standard of governance. The highlight came in when ESG was thoroughly explained with the introduction of a new governing body called, Sustainability Standards Board of Japan (SSBJ).

Faculty of Global Management will continue to emphasize the importance of practical skills in addition of theoretical knowledge and provides various opportunities for the students to learn from the industry professionals and become global leaders.
