On November 24th, Dr. Di Wang from the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Australia visited the Faculty of Global Management (GLOMAC) at Chuo University and gave a special lecture for GLOMAC students, titled "Doing a Research Degree in Business at Queensland University of Technology in Australia".
Dr. Wang is an Associate Professor and Higher Degree Research Academic Lead at the School of Advertising, Marketing and Public Relations, Faculty of Business and Law, QUT. He earned his PhD in Marketing from Monash University in 2013. His works have been published at the leading marketing and tourism journals such as Journal of Marketing (FT50, A*, Q1), Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science (FT50, A*, and Q1), European Journal of Marketing (A* and Q1), Psychology & Marketing (A/Q1), Journal of Travel Research (A* and Q1), and International Journal of Hospitality Management (A*/Q1).
In his presentation, Dr. Wang provided an overview of studying at an Australian university, using QUT as a case example, with a particular focus on the benefits of being a research student.
He briefly introduced his research background, described what student life would be like at the QUT campus, and explained the potential study options available for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. In particular, he highlighted the value of the higher research degree courses (i.e., research master's and doctoral programs) offered by the Business School.
In GLOMAC, Australia is still not a common study-abroad destination for many students. This presentation, therefore, provided them with a valuable opportunity to learn about what Australian university life is like as foundational knowledge.
Importantly, today's presentation offered a meaningful opportunity to recognize and consider QUT as a potential venue for future academic pursuits, such as exchange programs during their time at Chuo University or even as an option for further studies after graduation.
Overall, it was a fruitful experience for GLOMAC students to deepen their understanding of studying in Australia and to consider their future academic endeavors.
