Ms. Aiko Obuchi, a lawyer, and Mr. Masaharu Hamada, a whistleblower, delivered a lecture titled “The Importance of Whistleblowing System in the ESG Era” and “Olympus Whistleblower’s Experience and Importance of Internal Whistleblowing” in the Public Management class on November 28, 2023. Ms. Aiko Obuchi is a lawyer and graduated from the Faculty of Law at Chuo University. She presented the importance of the whistleblowing system in the ESG (Environment, Social, and Governance) era and introduced the Amended Whistleblower Protection Act and new whistleblowing cases of 2023 in Japan. Mr. Masaharu Hamada, who was a whistleblower of a major Japanese company, shared his experience of being a whistleblower in Japan and emphasized changing organizational culture to make Japanese companies more ethical.
