【新入生のみなさんへ】河合久国際経営学部長からのメッセージ "Open a gateway to the world!"

"Open a gateway to the world!"
I would like to extend our congratulations on your admission to the Faculty of Global Management−GLOMAC. This year is the second year since GLOMAC's founding, and, like the first year, it is still in a stage of development. In that sense, you are one of the members who are helping GLOMAC to evolve, together with the faculty and staff. I look forward to your active participation.
Companies today actively develop their business overseas. According to a certain survey, such companies face three major challenges. The first challenge is to secure human resources to carry on overseas business, the second challenge is to understand the regional and cultural characteristics of differing countries, and the third challenge is to develop business strategies conforming to each country’s unique circumstances.
When we view global management today, becoming a global talent requires not only a command of English and an understanding of different cultures, but also a mastery of basic knowledge and practice related to business management and operations. Therefore, it is important to have a business mind with excellent information literacy and analytical skills as well as to have the ability to act positively and cooperatively in a challenging environment built on the premise of diversity.
Apart from the importance of academia, the four years of college life will provide a great opportunity to make life-long friends, to think about your own living style and to prepare yourself for a long life. University learning outcomes do not appear in a short time. Rather than judging things just after admission, please spend your days meaningfully so that you can see how much you have grown in four years. The gateway to the world cannot be opened so easily. I wish you a bright future.

「世界に通じるゲートウェイを開こう！」
GLOMACへの仲間入りを果たした新入生の皆さん、入学おめでとうございます。
今年はGLOMACの創立2年目に当たりますが、昨年度と同様に発展途上にあることに変わりはありません。この点で、皆さんは我々教職員と共にGLOMACを育てるメンバーの一人に違いないのです。皆さんの自発的な参画を大いに期待しているところです。
今日、企業は積極的に海外で事業を展開しています。ある調査によると、そのような企業は3つの大きな課題に直面しています。１つ目の課題は、海外事業を遂行するための人材を確保することです。2つ目の課題は、異なる国の地域的および文化的特性を理解することです。3つ目の課題は、各国固有の状況に合った経営戦略を展開することです。今日のグローバル経営を見た場合、グローバル人材となるには、英語の能力と異なる文化を理解するだけでなく、経営管理と業務に関する基本的な知識ならびに実践を習得する必要があります。したがって、優れた情報リテラシーと分析スキルを備えたビジネスマインドを持ち、多様性を前提に構築された挑戦し甲斐のある環境で、積極的かつ協力的に行動する力を持つことが重要です。
学業面の重要性は別として、4年間の大学生活は生涯の友人を作り、あなた自身の生活スタイルについて考え、長い人生に備えるための素晴らしい機会を提供します。大学の学習成果はすぐには現れません。今年のように世界中が混乱した中での入学となりましたが、入学直後に何かを評価するのではなく、有意義な日々を過ごして、4年間でどれだけ成長したかを確認してください。世界へのゲートウェイはそれほど簡単に開けられないからです。皆さんの輝かしい未来をお祈りします。
