取り組み概要、意義、成果

本研究は、西アフリカ・ベナン共和国のアボメカラビ大学農学部の教員と共に計画し、実施しています。アボメカラビ大学では、マングローブ林に関して様々な研究が行われてきました。今回は、マルチスペクトルカメラが搭載されたドローンを用いて、マングローブが衰退している地域と安定している地域、再生が試みられている地域の特徴を把握しようとしています。今後、水文・水質などの環境要因や地域の社会経済についてデータをまとめ、マングローブ林が分布する湿地生態系の持続可能な利用体系を提案するために活用する予定です。

Overview of initiatives, significance, and results

This research is being planned and implemented jointly with colleagues from Abomey-Calavi University in Benin, West Africa. At Abomey-Calavi Univrsity, research on mangroves has been carried out from various angles. In the current project, we are using a drone with a multispectral camera to compare characteristics of areas where mangroves have declined, are stable or are being restored. We are planning to combine the information with data on environmental (e.g. hydrology, hydrochemistry) and socio-economic aspects in order to prepare suggestions for the sustainable use of the wetland ecosystems in which mangroves occur.
