取り組み概要、意義、成果

多摩キャンパス、後楽園キャンパスにおいて生物多様性や生態系サービスの指標のモニタリング調査を開始しました。例えば、多摩キャンパス内の緑地に生息する哺乳類を、自動撮影カメラを用いて記録しています。緑地の生態系サービスについて把握するために、数か所において継続的に気温を測定しています。環境要因と植生の相互作用について解明するために、樹木の生長量を胸高直径の変化から推定します。調査には、理工学部人間総合理工学科景観環境科学研究室や全学連携教育機構(FLP)の持続可能性科学演習の学生が参加しています。この活動においては、首都圏の他大学との協働に加え、全国的なモニタリングネットワークに加わることになりました。

Overview of initiatives, significance, and results

We have started monitoring indicators for biodiversity and ecosystem services on Tama Campus and Korakuen Campus. For example, we are recording mammals in the green spaces on Tama Campus using camera traps. In order to quantify ecosystem services, we are continuously measuring air temperature in several locations. To elucidate interactions between environmental factors and vegetation, we are recording changes in the diameter of trees. Students from the Laboratory of Applied Landscape Ecology and the Sustainability Science Seminar of the Faculty Linkage Program are participating in these activities. We are also collaborating with other universities in the Tokyo Metropolitan Area, and we are scheduled to start contributing to a nationwide monitoring scheme.
