取り組み概要、意義、成果

本学では、全ての学生や教職員が不自由なくキャンパスを利用できるよう、キャンパスのユニバーサルデザイン化を進めている。2022年度は、以下の2点に取り組んだ。

まず、多摩キャンパス内の全ての教室のドアノブ（計363箇所）を握り玉タイプから、レバーハンドルに交換した。これにより、従来の握り玉よりも軽い力、且つ単純な動作で開閉をすることができ、上肢に障がいのある方、車いすの方、握力が低下している方、両手がふさがっている方など、多くの方にとって利用しやすい環境になった。

次に、多摩、後楽園、市ヶ谷田町キャンパスの各棟エレベーターに優先エレベーター表示を設置した。多くの利用者がいるキャンパス内は、エレベーターが混みあい、優先的に利用したい方が利用しづらい状況にある。優先表示を設置することにより、優先的に利用したい方が利用しやくなるだけでなく、心理的な安心感を得ることができる。また、利用者への視覚的な啓発効果が期待できる。

今後もだれも利用しやすく、安心して過ごすことができるキャンパス整備を継続していく所存である。

Overview of initiatives, significance, and results

Chuo University is promoting the universal design of its campus to ensure that all students, faculty, and staff can use the campus without any inconvenience. In FY2022, the following two measures were taken.

First, all classroom door knobs (363 in total) on the Tama campus were replaced with lever handles instead of grip ball handles. This made it possible to open and close doors with less force and simpler movements than with conventional grips, making it easier for many people to use, including those with upper limb disabilities, wheelchair users, those with reduced grip strength, and those with both hands full of space.

Second, priority elevator signs were installed on elevators in the Tama, Korakuen, and Ichigaya-Tamachi campus buildings. On campuses with many users, elevators are crowded, making it difficult for those who need to use the elevators with priority to do so. Installing priority elevator signs not only makes it easier for those who wish to use the elevators, but also provides them with a sense of psychological security. It is also expected to have the effect of visually enlightening users.
　
We will continue to maintain a campus that is accessible to all and where people can spend their time with peace of mind.
