Faculty of Letters has launched a new talk series. An inaugural speech will be delivered by Prof. Louis Esparza on the following schedule.  Admission is free. Japanese translation will be provided. Please come join us!

ルイス・エスパルザ先生をお招きして文学部トークシリーズ『世界は、いま』第一回目を下記の要領で開催いたします。日本語への通訳もつきます。ふるってご参加下さい。

“Summoning Spirits: Indigenous People in Latin America”

「震える魂:ラテンアメリカ先住民の文化と抵抗」

Discussing the ACIN and Uwa people in Colombia, the Mapuche people of the Southern Cone, and the Oaxacan and Zapatista people of Mexico, this talk explores the internal dynamics of indigenous people, their cultures, and their fight against the modern nation-states. ラテンアメリカ諸国の先住民はどのように自分たちの文化や伝統を守ってきたのか。またその過程で国家とどのように対峙してきたのか。アシン、ウワ、マプチェ、オクサカン、サパティスタといったラテンアメリカ先住民に言及しながら、論じる。

  • Format: 45min talk, followed by 30min Q&A(45分の講演後、質疑応答)
